Berlin II

For Berlin, I wanted to read a travel book beforehand, but every one I had checked out seemed over done, touristy, and not aligned with our interests enough. One afternoon during my shift at Anthropologie, I was in the back upstocking when I stumbled upon a book entitled "Cityx60: Berlin" and immediately purchased. The book was filled with everything that we wanted to see and do and more, plus tips, hours of operation, and cost for many of the activities. Since the book was published recently, everything that it recommended was still there with relevant tips. I can't recommend this book enough if you find yourself traveling to Berlin.

Our favorite spots:

Hops and Barley, CO Berlin, Clärchens Ballhaus, Bauhaus Archiv, Topography of Terror, Berghain, Treptower Park, Spreepark, SO36 (where we saw Parquet Courts), the Berlin Wall, Templehofer Feld, and the Stasi Museum.

One of the moments I will never forget was taking the day to explore Kreuzberg to and after taking a pit stop for a beer to walk back across the bridge, we quite literally, stumbled upon the Berlin wall. Tearing up, we approached, and Pat placed his hand on the wall, and we both fell silent. We didn't talk very much, but sat by the river, in the sun, taking in the history and significance that it represented. What a powerful moment.

Even with the attractions we explored, we found ourselves enjoying just walking the streets, beers in hand, talking or not talking and just taking in the sights/people watching. This was a city we felt like we could live in the most, and I wouldn't be surprised if we moved here one day.

Again, Berlin, 10/10.
